Free, live sessions you can join from home, wherever you are in the UK. Whether you were diagnosed last week or years ago, there is a session here for you, and joining is simpler than you might think.
What our online sessions are like
Our sessions run live on Zoom, led by our trusted and experienced practitioners. They are small enough to feel personal, and you can take part as much or as little as you like. Your camera can stay off if you prefer. If you have never used Zoom, we will happily talk you through it.
There is a wide range to choose from: relaxation and mindfulness, gentle movement and exercise, eating well, sleeping better, managing menopause with cancer, lymphoedema support and more. Many sessions are open to loved ones too, and we say clearly on each one who it is for.
[Component: repeatable “open to loved ones” content block per session. NEEDS FACT: confirm which sessions welcome loved ones.]
New to Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK? Our Welcome to Penny Brohn session is the ideal place to start. Our friendly team will walk you through the support on offer and help you find what fits.
How to join a session
Everything starts with a simple, free registration. You can register online, or our support team will happily do it with you over the phone. Once you are registered, you can book any session that suits you. Booking happens in our booking system, which sends you the joining details and Zoom link.
[Do not imply booking happens on the website: the site routes to the Xview booking system. Confirm the exact handoff wording and registration link (portal.pennybrohn.org.uk/register).]
[Naming flag: the team is currently called the “client support team”. Copy uses “support team” per the no-clients rule; confirm the public-facing team name and the support email address (clientsupport@ or helpdesk@).]
[Component: online sessions directory grid (Online Sessions template), fed dynamically. Do not hand-list sessions in page copy; the programme changes regularly. Optional line: sign up to the weekly What’s On email to stay up to date. NEEDS FACT: confirm the What’s On email signup still runs.]
Our programmes
Alongside weekly sessions, we run structured programmes that go deeper over several weeks.
Treatment Support Programme
For anyone preparing for, going through or recovering from cancer treatment. Led by a doctor and a nurse over four weekly online sessions, and free like everything we offer.
Preparing for Treatment Programme
If treatment is ahead of you, this programme helps you get ready in body and mind.
[NEEDS FACT: confirm the Preparing for Treatment Programme format and length. Recommendation: this programme is substantial and may earn its own page later; drafted here as a card per Sophie’s steer not to add pages yet, with an introductory session (Introduction to Preparing for Treatment) available on the calendar.]
[Component: further programme cards. NEEDS FACT: confirm the current online programme list (for example the Mindfulness Based Living Course).]
Common questions
What do I need to join?
A phone, tablet or computer with an internet connection, and somewhere you can be comfortable. Nothing else.
Do I have to have my camera on?
No. You are welcome to keep your camera off and simply listen.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Every session is free, and no referral is needed.
Who can join?
Any adult in the UK affected by cancer, at any stage. Some sessions are open to family, friends and carers too; each session says who it is for.
How do I book?
Register once, free, then book through our booking system. The confirmation email brings your Zoom link.
Why our support is free
There is no cost to register or to join our sessions, and we do not want anyone to miss out because of money. We are a charity and receive no government funding, so everything here is funded by people who choose to give. If you are able to, a voluntary contribution helps keep this support free for the next person. If you are not, please just come along; you are why we are here.
[Semi-universal block per Harrison: reuse this wording across service and booking pages so the soft ask never varies. Optional: the pictogram “shopping list” of what amounts fund, once confirmed on Donate.]
