Support for loved ones

When someone you love has cancer, it happens to you too. You might be holding a lot right now: fear, exhaustion, the urge to fix things, guilt that it is not you.

There is support here for your person, and there is support here for you.

Helping the person you love

One of the most useful things you can do is help them find support. Everything Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK offers is free, no referral is needed, and registering takes minutes, online or with our support team on the phone. If they are not ready, that is okay too. You can simply show them what is here, or book a Welcome Call together when the time feels right.

Support for you

Caring for someone with cancer is demanding, in mind, body, spirit and emotions, and your wellbeing matters as much as theirs. Many of our sessions are open to family, friends and carers, sometimes alongside your person and sometimes just for you. Each session says clearly who it is for.

You will also find free guides, videos and practical tools in our self-help resources, including help with difficult conversations and looking after yourself while caring.

[NEEDS FACT: confirm which sessions and services are open to loved ones and carers; this feeds the repeatable “open to loved ones” block used across service pages. Also confirm whether one-to-one support (for example counselling) is available to loved ones; do not promise it until confirmed.]

Common questions

Can I join sessions with my person?

Often, yes. Many group sessions welcome family and friends; each session listing says who can attend.

Can I get support if my loved one does not use your services?

Yes. You are affected by cancer too, and you are welcome here in your own right.

Does it cost anything?

No. Everything we offer is free, for your person and for you.

Where do I start?

Register free, or book a Welcome Call and our team will help you work out the first step, for them, for you, or for both of you.

We are here for you too
