Jon joined the Trustee Board in October 2021.

Jon is a former NHS hospital Chief Executive and Operational Director who has worked within acute and community services in London, East Midlands and the East of England over the last decade and a half. During this time he had a particular focus on innovation and the integration of services and building those services around the patient. Prior to the joining the NHS he had a 20 year career in the Royal Navy as a warfare officer where he had a wide range of roles at home and abroad including sea going, intelligence and media management appointments.

More recently he has set up his own consultancy company providing support to other companies. This has included delivering service redesign services within Health and Social Care on the Isle of Man, support to a company providing hospital care in patients own homes and working with an innovation start up on COVID safety solutions for the UK and abroad; Jon has also been providing executive coaching and corporate facilitation to clients. A reluctant runner Jon has completed a number of running events, including four marathons, for charity in recent years.

Jess has been a Trustee since 2020.

Jess works as a voice over artist and lives in London with husband Andrew and son Hector.

Jess is the daughter of our Founder, Penny Brohn. Penny was diagnosed with cancer when Jess was 10 and she has been passionate about what the charity stands for since then. She chairs The London Fundraising Committee and her events have raised over £100,000.

Always looking for a new edge to fundraise, she helped organise the celebrity fundraising sculpting event with Joan Collins… and during lockdown she raised over £1,000 by swimming the length of the Channel in her small pop up pool in the garden!

Charles has been a Trustee since 2020.

Charles is a Chartered Surveyor and has recently retired after 35 years as a partner at commercial property consultants, Alder King. He has specialised in retail and leisure property agency and development throughout the UK.

Charles is a former Trustee of St Peter’s Hospice and QEH School. He is a founding Trustee and Chair of Bristol Bears Community Foundation.

He is an enthusiastic fundraiser and has undertaken several marathons and cycle rides in order to raise funds for a number of charities.

Nicola lives and works in Bristol and is a Director for Morgan Law. She became a Trustee in 2023.

Morgan Law is a recruitment consultancy who have been helping organisations in the public and not-for-profit sectors with recruitment and workforce issues since their inception in 2000.

Nicola worked at Morgan Law for seven very successful years in the early 2000’s, returning in 2017 as a Director for the South West division to further develop Morgan Law’s expertise and resources in this region.

Prior to this after graduating from Bristol University, Nicola worked in retail for the first 5 years of her career embarking on the graduate training scheme for Marks and Spencer. She held managerial roles in several London stores and also worked in management for Habitat.

Her recruitment career began at Michael Page before choosing to specialise in financial recruitment in the public and non-for-profit sector with Morgan Law.

Nicola specialises in recruiting to Finance Director and Senior Finance roles, with an extensive network and unrivalled knowledge in the public and not for profit sectors.

Kate is the current Head of Cancer Services at Sciensus, a company which specialises in providing one-to-one acute health care within the home. She has been a Trustee at Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK since 2023.

Her role encompasses strategic responsibility for cancer services across the organisation, leading service development and ensuring high quality, outcome driven care is delivered and experienced by patients and their families.

Kate originally trained as a nurse and has amassed over three decades of experience managing the delivery of high quality cancer care and treatment within both public and private healthcare settings.

As a recognised expert practitioner within the field, she has spent the bulk of her career at the cutting edge of cancer service development. She has led on the shaping of chemotherapy and associated service delivery in both an acute and community setting, including extensive work in the national policy arena.

Previous roles have included a range of senior posts within the speciality at the Royal Free NHS Hampstead including lead nurse for chemotherapy and directorate nurse manager for cancer. Following which, Kate was appointed Macmillan Network Lead for Chemotherapy at the North London Cancer Network (NLCN) with responsibility for improving the patient experience of chemotherapy care across the NLCN while providing professional nursing leadership within chemotherapy services.

Kate has co-chaired the Chemotherapy Tumour Board as well as the UKONS London Chemotherapy Forum. She co-wrote the pan London Cytotoxic Policy, co-ordinated the NLCN university accredited chemotherapy course and was a key member of the National Chemotherapy Action Group in collaboration with the National Cancer Action Team.

Amanda Hill has joined as a Trustee of Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK in May 2024.

Amanda is an experienced executive who has worked in the technology sector for a number of years, commercially focused on leading businesses which deliver customer value and experience whilst driving both top and bottom line growth.

Amanda has led diverse teams of 250+ people in multiple customer success, sales and wider service delivery disciplines.

Amanda has personal experience of the great work that Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK does supporting people going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as supporting their friends and family members. Amanda’s passion for the amazing and unique offerings is what drives Amanda to spread the word, and support and help to ensure that Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK can continue to deliver services that are open to everyone.

Bronwen lives and works in Bristol and is a qualified accountant.

She has 16 years experience leading accounting operations teams through business, system and process change. She has a keen interest in nurturing and developing young talent, focusing on under represented groups in Bristol.

Bronwen is a yoga teacher teaching gentle yoga and yoga nidra. She is currently developing her knowledge to be able to share yoga safely and compassionately with people affected by cancer.

Bronwen’s interest in Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK came through friends and colleagues using Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK’s services and retreats. She was able to see first hand hand the benefits of a holistic approach to cancer care.

Harvey joined as a Trustee of Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK in May 2024.

He has nine years’ experience in the charity sector as a trusts and foundations fundraiser, currently working for the homelessness charity Shelter. He has led on strategic bids to institutional funders, small family trusts and foundations and everything in between. He is an experienced internal and external relationship manager with an expertise in written communications.

Harvey’s interest in Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK came about from his own lived experience of cancer, treatment and recovery. He was very fortunate to have the support network around him to get him through an incredibly hard time, and wants to help others be able to access similar support through the work of Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK.

Emma joined Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK as a Trustee in 2024.

Emma is a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years of finance experience. She is currently the Head of Finance at The Barrister Group and, before that, spent nearly nine years as Head of People and Finance at Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS). Her time at SARSAS, and experience in charity sector audit before that, has given her a broad insight into the charity sector including the complexities of charity finance and challenges of fundraising.

Jayne is a Finance Director working in the charity sector.

Her experience in the last 10 years has been at Exec/Board level, in growing organisations, leading the development of robust financial strategic plans to deliver tangible outcomes in collaboration with executive colleagues and Board members.

Jayne leads all areas of finance, HR, compliance and IT functions and has expertise in guiding organisations through organisational change for impact. Her passion is working with learning and data led organisations to deliver excellence through a proactive and integrated finance and resources function.
