Refer someone

Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK offers free, evidence-informed support for your patients, before, during and after cancer treatment. No referral is needed, and pointing someone to us takes less than a minute.

Who we can support

Any adult in the UK, with any type of cancer, at any stage: newly diagnosed, in treatment, beyond treatment or living with incurable cancer. Everything we offer is free, and people can self-register online or by phone. Loved ones and carers are welcome at many sessions too.

[NEEDS FACT: confirm the eligibility criteria wording with the services team.]

What your patients can access

Our flagship Treatment Support Programme is led by a medical doctor and a cancer nurse specialist over four weekly online sessions, supporting physical and emotional resilience through treatment. Around it sits a weekly programme of online sessions, free one-to-one consultations, and in-person support days and residential stays at our centre near Bristol.

In a recent service evaluation, one hundred per cent of people who completed the Treatment Support Programme said they would recommend it to others going through treatment, and ninety per cent said it helped them feel more confident about getting through treatment.

The compassion shown by people and the safe space to speak out is amazing. I have never felt so vulnerable in my life since diagnosis and it was a relief to be able to speak frankly in a way that can be tricky to verbalise to family and friends.

Good to know

Our services complement conventional cancer treatment and never replace it; we always recommend people check advice with their oncology team. Support is delivered by a qualified, experienced multi-professional team, follows our clinical governance framework and is robustly evaluated.

How to refer

The quickest route: simply direct your patient to our Get support page, or give them our number, 0303 3000 118. They can register in minutes and choose what suits them; our support team will help them from there.

Prefer to refer directly? Complete the short referral form and we will contact your patient to talk through what might help.

[Component: referral form (Gravity Form). NEEDS FACT: confirm the referral route and receiving inbox. Sophie’s steer: a formal referral is not required, directing patients to Get support is fine; the form remains for HCPs who want it.]

Keep in touch

Would you like a monthly update for healthcare professionals? Sign up and we will keep you posted on programmes, evidence and new services.

[Component: HCP email signup (Mailchimp). NEEDS FACT: confirm the signup form still runs. Also confirm whether the “share your service” invitation (for organisations wanting to appear in our recommended resources) stays on this page or moves to Self-help resources.]
