The difference whole-person support makes, in numbers and in people’s own words. Everything here is measured by Penny Brohn Cancer Care UK’s Evaluation, Evidence and Insight team, because we believe support for people with cancer should be evidenced, not assumed.
Thanks to you
Every figure below is a person who found free support when they needed it, funded entirely by people who choose to give.
[Component: three impact counters, labelled “Figures from 2024”: people with cancer directly supported; people who joined group sessions; people who used one-to-one support. NEEDS FACT: the three actual 2024 numbers; they are not exposed in the current page markup. This page is the primary home of these stats, per the batch 1 decision.]
The difference our support makes
Our evaluation data consistently shows that our services improve people’s overall wellbeing, reduce the severity of their cancer-related concerns and help them feel more in control of their health. People tell us they feel supported and cared for, build real connections with others, and make lasting changes to how they eat, move and manage stress.
[Component: outcome infographics. Media note from Sophie: these do not exist yet and need creating from the 2024 figures. Optional stat tile: the Treatment Support Programme evaluation figures used on Refer someone; reuse identical wording if included.]
[Approved quote from a person we support, to be supplied. Do not invent.]
Our services are shaped by the people who use them. Our Client Voice group is open to anyone affected by cancer, including people who have never used our services, so that a wide range of voices influences what we do and how we improve.
[NEEDS FACT: confirm the Client Voice contact (currently maddi.gardner@pennybrohn.org.uk) and the group’s public name; same naming flag as Our approach.]
Research and evidence
Our evaluation work is regularly presented at healthcare conferences and published in healthcare and integrative medicine journals.
[Component: list or links of evaluation publications. NEEDS FACT: confirm the current publications list.]
We also support good research beyond our own walls. We help researchers at academic institutions across the UK recruit participants for their studies; everything we promote must come from a reputable institution, hold ethics approval and fit our ethos. And since 2017 we have welcomed a University of Bath Health Psychology MSc student on a sixteen-week research placement each year.
If you are a researcher, or you would like to know more about how we evaluate our services, contact research@pennybrohn.org.uk.
Our annual report and accounts
Our annual report and accounts set out what we did, what it cost and what changed as a result. You can find them, with our governance and policies, on Governance.
[NEEDS FACT: link the current annual report and accounts.]
Help us reach more people
